Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM)
It’s the new buzzword in education as jobs move increasingly towards the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.. Somila International School has been designing a new concept on “hands on” Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) lab at our school. We have purposefully chosen STEM modules so students are able to connect with the “real world”. Through STEM education, we are teaching the design thinking concept of understanding a problem, creating a solution, testing and iterating on it, and once perfected, sharing it with the world. While the ultimate goal is to attract students into STEM careers because we have a shortage of skilled workers in fields such as engineering and computer science, the skills students learn from STEM are applicable to everything they do, educators say.
